On the day of surgery, any damaged teeth or existing support teeth are extracted.
The All on 4 implants are inserted using surgical guides to ensure that they are precisely positioned. At the end of the implant placement an impression is taken, which is required for the laboratory to complete the PMMA acrylic pre-milled prosthetic teeth or bridge. The final adjustments and touches to the prosthesis may take up to 3 hours while the patient is in recovery. On completion the All on 4 prosthesis is fitted to complete the procedure.
In some instance the patient may choose to have a metal-reinforced acrylic bridge which has a 5 year warranty. In this instance the Same Day Teeth TM / All on 4 procedure may be extended beyond the same day appointment, but no longer than 2 days.
Also there are instance that the specialist will choose to insert additional implants because of insufficient bone or other clinical reasons and usually this is done at no additional cost.
After a 3-4 month healing phase which is necessary for all implant procedures, the patient returns to confirm that the All on 4 implants have healed satisfactorily. The second and final stage of the procedure is then completed. The patient may choose to have the original pre-milled high strength acrylic bridge remain for an extended period or have a long lasting highly aesthetic definitive ceramic bridge inserted. In either case your new teeth will look, feel and function like natural teeth and you will be able to eat all your desired foods and benefit from an uninhibited and improved natural smile.
Ceramic Upper Bridge
For the Same Day Teeth TM / All on 4 procedure the patient is initially fitted with a pre-milled high strength acrylic bridge which is designed to last beyond the normal healing period of 3-4 months and has a warranty of 24 months. The patient may choose to continue with this originally fitted bridge. However, in most instances this prothesis will need to be replaced with a final All on 4 final or definitive bridge that will be stronger and longer lasting. The Prosthodontist will advise you of your options and will be very dependent on clinical factors and aesthetics. A definitive ceramic/zirconia bridge is usually recommended as it is not only longer lasting, strongest and most functional but also the most aesthetic.
